Position: Coaching Staff

Job Start Date:

Contract Duration:
Minimum 1-year initial contract

Hours:
5-7 hours per week.
Must be available Thursdays 6:00-8:30pm and Saturdays 10-12:30pm plus time to arrive early, set up and warm up.

Pay:
Dependent on qualifications.

Job Description:
Coaching staff with minimum 2 years' coaching experience to support Pendulum's community education program for youth ages 8-18. Additional contracted coaching opportunities for French American International School physical education and after school programs.

Specific Responsibilities:teaching a class
Following an appropriate course of instruction for various student levels
Monitoring and maintaining the safety and discipline of students
Assisting with choreographing student work in preparation for recitals
All coaches are expected to serve both as role models for students and apprentices, and as a Pendulum representative with parents and the public audience. Therefore all interested artists should display the following personal characteristics:
Punctual
Polite
Hard-working
Cheerful and professional demeanor
Positive and constructive in giving/receiving corrections or criticism
Artistically creative and open

Job Requirements:
Applicants should have a minimum of two years of combined teaching and performing experience in aerial, contemporary circus, dance or physical theater work. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of several contemporary circus disciplines, including: aerial silks, hammock, rope, hoop (lyra), straps, static trapeze, dance trapeze, and doubles work; dance (any style), adagio, contortion, hand-balancing, tumbling, juggling, hula-hoop, stilt-walking, etc. with an emphasis on clean technique, appropriate skills progression, and artistic development. Familiarity with aerial rigging is also a plus.

Please note that Pendulum Aerial Arts is based in Portland, Oregon. Interested applicants from out-of-town must be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Coaching candidates will be asked to come in and teach an "audition" class for company members.

Job Description:
Core company members ages 18 and over are sought to contribute to Pendulum Aerial Arts's vibrant and expanding professional company. Company members serve as performing artists in private, corporate and public event performances for Pendulum, as well as educational coaches for our recreational programs.

Specific Responsibilities:outdoor performance
Attending company rehearsals
Learning company repertoire and new works as set
Performing in various private and public events for Pendulum
Following an appropriate course of instruction for various student levels
